German Football Clubs Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund Interested In Pro Handball

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund "have revealed interest in professional handball," according to Gabriel Wagner of SPONSORs. After Germany's triumph at the European Championships in January, the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) "is looking to continue its development and attract well-known football clubs." HBL President Uwe Schwenker confirmed corresponding talks with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Schwenker: "There have been loose, informal talks with marketing representatives of both clubs." He added that it is a "very difficult topic" because the league's bylaws prevent the involvement of big sports brands. Schwenker said in an interview with "Handball Inside" that the fastest way for big football clubs to get involved is through sporting partnership with third-tier handball clubs (SPONSORs, 3/10).
