Spanish radio broadcaster GASPAR ROSETY died on Sunday at the age of 57. He worked for various organizations including Antena 3 Radio, COPE, Diario 16, Radio Voz, Real Madrid and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) (MARCA, 3/6). ... French Ligue 1 side Nice announced the death of "one of the club’s most emblematic" players, HECTOR 'PANCHO' GONZALEZ. Former player (’51-61) and manager (’64-65) Gonzalez died aged 89 (L’ÉQUIPE, 3/5). ... Spain’s Administrative Tribunal for Sport (TAD) has launched its investigation into Spanish Football Federation President ÁNGEL MARÍA VILLAR, but he “is spared suspension.” According to Marca, TAD began “a process of confidential information” relating to Villar and Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) President JOSÉ LUIS SÁEZ on Friday “but decided against suspending the pair as only witness proceedings had been opened” (FOOTBALL ESPANA, 3/4). ... Hall of Fame tennis writer and TV commentator BUD COLLINS, “who helped popularize the sport during his decades-long career,” died at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts on Friday after a long illness. He was 86. Collins, “an enthusiastic chronicler of tennis who brightened the scene with his trademark bow-ties and colorful trousers,” began his career at the Boston Globe in ‘63 and became one of the sport's “preeminent and foremost authorities.” He later moved into TV commentary at the sport's biggest events “and treated tennis fans to his colorful prose by authoring three novels” (REUTERS, 3/4). ... The reign of European football's “longest-serving manager has come to an end after 29 years.” RONNIE MCFALL, 69, was set to leave NIFL Premiership side Portadown at the end of the season “but resigned after his side's shock Irish Cup defeat by Lurgan Celtic.” He was appointed in Dec. ‘86 -- six weeks after ALEX FERGUSON joined ManU. Arsenal Manager ARSÈNE WENGER “has now taken the record” (BBC, 3/5).

NBC Olympics’ Molly Solomon, ESPN’s P.K. Subban, the Masters and more

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with Molly Solomon, who will lead NBC’s production of the Olympics, and she shares what the network is are planning for Paris 2024. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s P.K. Subban as the Stanley Cup Playoffs get set to start this weekend.
