BetVictor Announces Deal To Gain Authorized Betting Partner Status

BetVictor has become an authorized betting partner "after agreeing a three-year deal with British racing," according to Mark Scully of RACING POST. Under the three-year deal, BetVictor "will pay the sport a share of its racing profits" derived from U.K. customers. As an ABP, BetVictor "will again be allowed to sign commercial deals with the majority of racecourses which have embraced the initiative." Neither side, however, "was willing to disclose details of the deal on Friday, including the all-important rate, the issue at the heart of the rift between British racing and the bookmakers yet to sign up." Friday's announcement "comes a day after Ryanair took over sponsorship of the World Hurdle from Ladbrokes, who are yet to achieve ABP status." Ladbrokes "are one of four firms, along with William Hill, Coral and Sky Bet, who were also told on Thursday by Racing UK that they are not welcome on the subscription channel until their stance on becoming an ABP changes" (RACING POST, 2/19).
