Marketplace Roundup: German Club Greuther Fürth Extends Partnership With Hummel

Second Bundesliga club Greuther Fürth has signed an early contract extension with kit supplier hummel. The club and German-Danish brand have extended their deal until '21. The original deal was set to expire in '17 (Greuther Fürth). ... The German Football League (DFL), German FA (DFB) and the German Association of Football Player Agents (DFVV) "have signed a memorandum of understanding." The core issue of the MoU "is more transparency in player transfers" (SPONSORs, 2/11). ... Sportswear brand Kappa is “continuing its partnership with the Leader’s Cup for the next three seasons.” After its first season sponsoring the annual French club basketball competition in ’15, Kappa has “reinforced its support of French basketball” by engaging with the French National Basketball League's (LNB) three-day competition starting Feb. 19 (SPORTS MARKETING, 2/11). ... Greenwood Capital is a new commercial partner of Australian Football League side Melbourne Football Club. Greenwood Capital is an investment company based in Burwood with strong Chinese connections under the direction of Chair Fu Jianping. This partnership marks the second Chinese partner for Melbourne FC following the signing of China Southern Airlines in '14 (Melbourne FC). ... AFL side Greater Western Sydney Giants announced a multi-million dollar, multi-year co-major partnership with int'l tire brand Toyo Tires. The sponsorship will see the Toyo Tires logo featured on the team's jersey and includes significant signage, branding and activation opportunities across a suite of Giants' assets (GWS Giants). ... Property Investment firm AfterSport Ltd. was confirmed as the official property investment group of the Rugby Players' Association. AfterSport Ltd. will introduce RPA members to the property sector through the RPA Personal Development Program, as well as utilizing RPA hospitality and events opportunities (RPA). ... KPMG Ireland announced a sponsorship agreement with Irish professional golfer Paul Dunne. Dunne will join five-time major champion Phil Mickelson and two-time LPGA major champion Stacy Lewis as a KPMG brand ambassador (KPMG Ireland). ... The Int'l Sports Promotion Society was announced as the title sponsor for the ISPS HANDA Perth Int'l golf tournament for the fourth consecutive year when the event returns to Lake Karrinyup Country Club from Feb. 25-28. ISPS has supported golf globally for many years and has sponsored events in Australia for almost a quarter of a century (PGA Tour Australia).
