Madrid Court Rules In Favor Of Real Madrid's Changes To Its Social Statutes

Real Madrid announced on Thursday that a Madrid court ruled against legal action opposing the club's modification of its social statutes, according to the EFE. Real Madrid said in a statement that the court's ruling means the 15 members who filed the legal claim "will have to pay for the court fees" (EFE, 2/11). EL PAÍS reported the statute modifications being challenged were the increases in the criteria required for a club member to run in Real Madrid presidential elections. These included a tenure of 20 years as a member -- instead of 10 -- to be eligible, as well as a Spain-registered bank's pre-guarantee of 15% of the club's budget (EL PAÍS, 2/11).
