Fiji FA Sponsor CJ Patel Ends Five-Year Sponsorship Deal After Two Years

CJ Patel will discontinue its sponsorship with Fiji FA, leaving Vodafone Fiji "as the sole sponsors of football in the country," according to Shalveen Chand of the FIJI TIMES. The deal, which was inked in Dec. '13 for five years with lead partners Vodafone Fiji, was cut short by CJ Patel just after two years. It was worth $1M per year for five years. Vodafone CMO Rajnesh Prasad said that the decision by CJP "was purely a business one." Vodafone Fiji confirmed in a statement that in the interim, "it will take over all the properties currently allocated to CJ Patel under the sponsorship deal and be the sole sponsors of Fiji FA." Prasad said in the statement, "It is business as usual for Fiji FA. Accordingly, the National Football league, which is scheduled to start in a week's time will now be known as Vodafone Premier League" (FIJI TIMES, 2/6).
