UEFA's Decision To Lift Kiev Stadium Ban Angers Supporters Of Man City

Man City fans have accused UEFA of giving Dynamo Kiev a “clear advantage” in their Champions League tie this month after the Ukrainian club "had a stadium ban for racist chanting lifted," according to James Ducker of the LONDON TIMES. UEFA announced that "its appeals body had reduced the ban from three games to one, a sanction that was served when they played their final group fixture in December." Although it means that Man City fans can attend the away leg of the round-of-16 tie on Feb. 24, the timing of the decision means that only 750 fans "are expected to make the journey, about half the number that would ordinarily travel." Man City supporters’ groups said that "arranging a trip to Ukraine at 22 days’ notice is a financial and logistical 'nightmare.'" Official City supporters' group General Secretary Kevin Parker: "As usual, UEFA have well and truly stuffed City on this one, but there is no surprise there" (LONDON TIMES, 2/4).
