ManU To Close Entire Section Of Alex Ferguson Stand Due To Low Demand

ManU is "set to be forced into shutting a large section" of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand for this month's Europa League tie due to "lack of demand," according to Jack Gaughan of the London DAILY MAIL. Louis van Gaal's side faces Midtjylland "in the second leg of the last-32 tie at Old Trafford in three weeks' time." But the club is "looking like having to do so in front of a sparse crowd" -- even after ticket prices were slashed by around 25%. Tickets for the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand's top tier are currently unavailable on ManU's official website and "that looks likely to be closed regardless of sales in the coming days." The entire structure holds 26,000 -- running along one touchline -- and the club has "written to supporters who had already bought to sit up high." ManU said that they are being moved to "better seats elsewhere at no extra cost" (DAILY MAIL, 2/4).
