German Touring Car Championship, ARD Renew Broadcast Rights Deal

The races of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) "will continue to air on German public broadcaster ARD," according to Frieder Schilling of SPONSORs. DTM rights holder ITR renewed its contract with ARD for the next two seasons. ARD will broadcast all DTM races live and exclusive over the rights period. The qualifying session will continue to stream live on DTM.de, Sportschau.de and new this year on digital TV channel "Einsfestival." ARD has been the DTM's broadcast partner since '00. Starting in '05, the public broadcaster has held the exclusive live broadcast rights to the series in Germany. ARD pays an estimated €4M-€5M ($4.3M-$5.4M) for the rights. The '16 season will kick off on May 7 at the Hockenheimring (SPONSORs, 1/26).
