Marketplace Roundup: Somerset County Cricket Club Partners With Cooper Associates

Somerset County Cricket Club announced that financial advisory firm Cooper Associates will become its ground naming rights partner and the home of Somerset County Cricket Club will now be officially known as "The Cooper Associates County Ground." The five-year agreement builds upon the existing relationship between Cooper Associates and Somerset County Cricket Club. Cooper Associates has a history of supporting sport in the region, with links to Taunton Cricket Club, as well as sponsoring England int'l and former Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler (Cooper Associates). ... The German FA (DFB) has signed a license deal with Lego. Lego will launch mini figures of the German national team in May. The Lego team will consist of 16 mini figures. Each of the figures will have a price tag of €2.99 ($3.25) (DFB). ... After a 15-year collaboration with Mikasa, Singapore's S.League "decided to go with" new sponsor Mitre. A five-year deal sees the introduction of the Delta Hyperseam ball, "which is used in England's Football League Championship and the Scottish Premier League." This agreement "will see Mitre provide official match balls and products for all S.League fixtures" and also any game organized by the FA of Singapore, including lower-tier fixtures (ESPN, 1/25). ... Third-tier German side FC Energie Cottbus "extended a sponsorship and supply deal with sportswear company Sport Saller." The deal, "which was scheduled to expire at the end of the current season," will now run until the end of the '16-17 campaign (SOCCEREX, 1/26). ... Brasileiro side Cruzeiro "signed a sponsorship deal with Super 8." The American hotel chain's logo "will appear on the playing shorts" of the club for the next three years. Super 8 branding "will also appear on interview backdrops and other Cruzeiro marketing inventory, while a multi-platform promotional campaign is also planned" (SOCCEREX, 1/26). ... Land Rover extended its commitment to the Extreme Sailing Series for a further two years. As part of its commitment to support young British sailors, and to create a pathway into the America’s Cup, the Land Rover BAR Academy entered a squad of 12 sailors in the 2016 Extreme Sailing Series (Extreme Sailing Series). ... Canterbury "extended its relationship with sports marketing specialist Synergy to activate its partnership with the British & Irish Lions, a deal that sees Canterbury hold exclusive rights to manufacturing both the Lions match and training kit alongside a new lifestyle range." Synergy "will create and execute an integrated PR, digital and experiential campaign that will run from now until the Lions tour of New Zealand in 2017" (ISPORTCONNECT, 1/26). ... Rowing Australia announced that Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation partnered with the Australian Rowing Team in '16. Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation become major partners of Rowing Australia and the Australian Rowing Team, specifically supporting key preparation activities in a significant year of competition including World Rowing Cups and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. As part of the deal, Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation will become the official partner of Rowing Australia, as well as the naming rights partner of the team’s Destination Gold pre-departure camp set to take place in Canberra from Feb. 22-May-16 (Rowing Australia).
