Media Notes: Spanish Newspaper AS Launches U.S. Edition

Spanish newspaper AS Dir Alfredo Relaño presented the publication's expansion to the U.S. He traveled to the Spanish Consul in Miami on Thursday for the presentation of AS USA. Relaño: "We are in a project of expansion and we are bringing a Spanish website that will have two aspects. One will be what occurs in Spain and Europe, above all a universal event like the Real Madrid-Barça rivalry. The other aspect will be information on sports here" (AS, 1/21). ... ServusTV has obtained the Austrian broadcasting rights to the MotoGP Championship and will telecast all MotoGP races live from March. ServusTV will telecast all 18 races during the season as well as the qualifying of the MotoGP series and the championship races of Moto2 and Moto3 (MotoGP). ... Sony Pictures Television Networks announced a deal with WTA Media to bring Women’s Tennis Association events exclusively to Canal Sony in Latin America beginning in '17. SPT will carry will more than 32 WTA events throughout the season on both Canal Sony and its TV Everywhere offerings, including events like the Premier and Premier 5 tournaments, plus the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. The channel will offer local commentary for most matches, with on-the-ground event coverage for tournaments that have strong local interest (Sony Pictures Television).
