He will also participate in a debate about the financing for the signings of footballers. Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President Ángel María Villar modified the rules and electoral calendar that he proposed on Jan. 7 when he announced his intention to call for a presidential election. The principal change, reducing the voters from 180 to 140, is, according to RFEF sources, "a move to favor Villar's interests." The professional clubs that represent the LFP, which until now had 30 votes, will now have 20 votes. With this move, Villar "diminishes one of the groups that is most opposed to his leadership" (EL PAÍS, 1/20).
