Event Notes: Euro 2016 Single-Game Tickets Draw 3.5 Million Requests

Tickets for individual matches during this summer's Euro 2016 are available to the general public until Feb. 1. On Monday, 3.5 million tickets were requested from 189 territories before midday for a tournament that will be played in 10 cities in France for a month from June 10. The three games in highest demand are Germany-Poland (Saint-Denis, June 16), Republic of Ireland-Sweden (Saint-Denis, June 13) and Portugal-Austria (Paris, June 18). The five teams whose fans submitted the most applications through their dedicated ticket portal are Poland, France, Austria, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland (UEFA). ... Hundreds of Scottish football club East Kilbride fans were "left disappointed" as tickets for "their huge Scottish Cup clash" with Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale sold out in 30 minutes. Kilby fans "braved sub zero temperatures outside K-Park on Saturday morning in a bid to get their hands on the gold dust tickets." Around 400 fans were "left disappointed as the clamour for tickets between two non-league sides saw briefs sell out in rapid time" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 1/17).
