Marketplace Roundup: Lionel Messi Named Global Ambassador For Dubai's World Expo

Lionel Messi "was announced as the first Global Ambassador for Dubai's World Expo," taking on an int'l role as a champion for Expo 2020 Dubai. Messi "is one of the most widely known footballers in the world" with over 80 million followers on social media and recognition levels above 85% (KHALEEJ TIMES, 1/13). ... The Oasis Group -- "a European Record Information Management company with its headquarters in Ireland -- has become Cricket Ireland’s latest commercial partner" for the '16-17 seasons. The agreement, which begins with immediate effect, will see the Oasis Group become the official records and information partner to Cricket Ireland, "as well as the sponsor of the Coach of the Year award at the Cricket Ireland Awards" (NEWS LETTER, 1/12). ... A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers announced a multi-year partnership agreement with betting.club. A member-owned organization with strong roots in Western Sydney, betting.club is Australia’s first social betting platform backed by the Mounties Group, also based in Sydney’s Greater West. The three-year deal will see betting.club take up several signage, digital and PR-related opportunities within and around the club, including corporate function appearances with a focus on responsible engagement with fans on game day (Wanderers). ... Allianz Ireland announced a five year extension of its sponsorship of the Allianz Football and Hurling Leagues. In addition to its sponsorship of the Allianz Leagues since '93, Allianz has facilitated and enabled school children across all 32 counties to play Gaelic Games through its patronage of Allianz Cumann na mBunscol, the largest primary education sporting organization in Ireland (GAA).
