Basketball Bundesliga Intends To Increase League's Reach To 4 Million By 2020

Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) Managing Dir Stefan Holz "plans to increase the league's reach," according to Gabriel Wagner of SPONSORs. Holz: "We want to turn the 2.8 million highly interested BBL fans into 4 million highly interested BBL fans by 2020." Increasing the league's fan base will help BBL in its vision to become the strongest domestic league in Europe by '20. The BBL "will also have to increase its sponsorship and media revenue" to reach its "lofty goals." The league "is currently looking for a new title sponsor after Turkish brand Beko announced that it will not renew its sponsorship at the end of the season." The BBL also wants to get more air time on Germany's public broadcasters. Holz: "We have to achieve a triad: Telekom Basketball, Sport1 and public broadcasters" (SPONSORs, 1/13).
