Chinese Owner Of French Ligue 2 Side Sochaux 'Ready To Invest' For Promotion Push

Chinese LED manufacturer Ledus CEO and French Ligue 2 side Sochaux Owner Li Wing-Sang said that he is “ready to invest” up to €100M ($109M) into the club to make a push for promotion, according to LE FIGARO. Li said, “Today, we have the fifth lowest budget in L2. If necessary, we are ready to invest 10, 20 or 100 million euros, but what interests me is how we will invest. We need to know if we will have guarantees.” When asked what he would do if Manager Albert Cartier were to request €10M ($11M) to recruit a striker, Li responded, “If he can tell me how it will serve the club and it’s a reasonable decision, I’ll talk. … We must all work together, it’s a team effort.” Li’s fortune is estimated around €95M ($103M). Li hopes to take Sochaux into Ligue 1 “within two years,” and his summer objective is to “invest in new players.” Sochaux currently sits 17th in Ligue 2 (LE FIGARO, 1/13).
