League Notes: Briton, Five Germans Charged With Running Doping Lab

Prosecutors said that a British man and five Germans "have been charged with producing significant amounts of doping substances for athletes in an underground laboratory and distributing the drugs across Germany." The Munich prosecutors said that a 45-year-old British national "has been running an underground laboratory in Waldkraiburg, near Munich, since 2009." He "is accused of producing anabolic steroid drugs for athletes and body builders" (REUTERS, 1/12). ... Reports "suggest white players from the Titans, Knights and Highveld Lions are unhappy" about Cricket South Africa’s quota system in franchise cricket. The current quota system "stipulates that all franchises must field six players of color in their starting XIs at all times during this season's Ram Slam T20, Momentum One-Day Cup and four-day Sunfoil Series." Three of the six "must also be black African players." However, it appears there will not be a strike of any kind (SPORT24, 1/12). ... The Ho Chi Minh Football Federation and French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Lyon have agreed to a partnership that will last five seasons. OL will help structure a development program for the Vietnamese province. The goal of the program is to develop young football players and coaches. OL will name a technical director in the coming weeks to coordinate and oversee the initiative in Ho Chi Minh (Olympique de Lyon).
