Euro 2016 Dir of Public Affairs XAVIER DANIEL “has died following a long battle with illness aged 45.” He started working at the French Professional Football League (LFP) in ’01. He was “behind the creation of the Stadium Services Department, which worked toward the modernization of stadium infrastructure in France.” Daniel joined UEFA in ’11 to “help clubs and host cities prepare for the Euro championships.” Daniel was also “very active in the European Stadium & Safety Management Association as well as the Sports Center of Rights & Economy" (L’ÉQUIPE, 1/4). ... West Indies cricketer CHRIS GAYLE has been fined $7,200 by his club for "inappropriate conduct" after he asked a TV reporter for a date in a live interview. Gayle was speaking to journalist MEL MCLAUGHLIN during a Big Bash League T20 match in Hobart on Monday. He said, "To see your eyes for the first time is nice. Hopefully we can have a drink afterwards. Don't blush baby." Gayle has said he is sorry, but that the reaction was "out of proportion" (BBC, 1/5).
