Marketplace Roundup: German Handball Federation Signs Sponsorship Deal With Lidl

The German Handball Federation (DHB) signed a new sponsorship deal with supermarket chain Lidl as the organization's grocery partner. The deal includes ad space on LED boards in camera view along with marketing opportunities and will run until Dec. 31 (Legardère Sports). ... Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach and document solutions provider Kyocera "have renewed their partnership for another season." The second-tier partner "receives ad space in camera view and a hospitality package." The deal has an estimated value of €400,000 ($429,000) annually (SPONSORs, 1/5). ... Second Bundesliga side SC Paderborn "extended its partnership with Sport Saller for another three years." The kit deal, which was set to end after the '15-16 season, will now run through '18-19. Sport-Saller has been a partner of the club since '12-13 (SPONSORs, 1/5). ... Williams Martini Racing announced that it signed a renewed partnership agreement with Finnish company Wihuri for the '16 Formula One season. The Wihuri logo will now feature on the front wing endplate of the upcoming Williams Mercedes FW38. The Wihuri logo will also feature on the drivers' helmets and overalls, as well as team clothing (Williams F1). ... Beer brand Carling is sending a van around the country to collect unwanted football strips during the January transfer window as part of a "shirt amnesty." Fans "will be able to turn up at the van and swap football shirts for free if they have a shirt with the name of a player who has been sold by their club during the transfer window." Ex-Premier League and England footballer Jimmy Bullard "will help promote the activity" (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 1/4). ... The Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran has granted a sponsorship deal for the national football teams to German sporting goods manufacturer uhlsport GmbH. Uhlsport will supply match kit and possibly training equipment to Iran's men's national football team, and other Iranian outfits for a period of three years (FFIRI). ... Evans Cycles, the U.K.'s leading specialist bike shop, is the new official clothing and retail partner for Prudential RideLondon. Evans Cycles is working with one of its premier clothing brands, Endura, to design and produce the official clothing for the '16 event. Evans Cycles will be on hand to provide all the help participants need when preparing for the ride. Support will include in-store advice evenings and maintenance classes, training rides at the Evans Cycles RIDE IT sportive series and on-the-ride mechanical support (Prudential RideLondon).
