Beijing's Chinese Communist Party Secretary and former Mayor GUO JINLONG has been named "president of the city's Organising Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics." Guo, who served as mayor from '08-12, "formerly served as executive chairman of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Organising Committee." He is "also a member of the CCP's ruling Politburo." Chinese Olympic Committee President LIU PENG "was appointed as one of four executive chairman along with current Beijing Mayor WANG ANSHUN, who led the Beijing 2022 Bid Committee." They "will be joined by" China Disabled Persons' Federation Chair ZHANG HAIDI, and Hebei Province Communist Party Secretary & Governor ZHANG QINGWEI (INSIDE THE GAMES, 12/15). ... After 12 years with the team, Belgian national basketball team GM JACQUES LEDURE has decided “not to seek a new contract.” The 72-year-old said, “Hoping to pave the way for new influences and new people, I turn the team over with full confidence in the future of the Belgian Lions” (LA MEUSE, 12/15). ... Scottish Championship side Alloa Athletic named former Falkirk and St. Mirren defender JACK ROSS as its "new manager, following the departure of DANNY LENNON." Ross "previously worked as an assistant manager at Dumbarton and as a coach at Hearts." He "has signed a contract until the end of the current season" (SPORT TV, 12/15).
