Event Notes: SPFL Announces Petrofac Training Cup Final Will Be Held At Hampden

Scottish Championship side Rangers "will get the chance to win a cup at Hampden Park again" after the Scottish Professional Football League announced the Petrofac Training Cup final against Peterhead will take place at the national stadium. The game will kick off at 3pm on April 10 and will be live on BBC Alba. Some fans "may not be happy as a price increase has been implemented" -- with adults being charged £20 ($30), concessions £10 ($15) and U16s £5 ($7.52) -- to watch this year's final (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 12/15). ... ManU confirmed that ticket prices will be reduced by approximately 25% for the Europa League last-32 tie against FC Midtjylland and beyond should Manager Louis van Gaal’s team "overcome the Danish champions." Having dropped out of the Champions League last week following a 3-2 group defeat against Wolfsburg, United was paired with Midtjylland. Nicknamed "The Wolves," Midtjylland will host United at its 11,800-capacity MCH Arena in Herning on Feb. 18 before the second leg at Old Trafford seven days later. With ManU entering the Europa League for the first time since the '11-12 campaign, the club has "chosen to cut ticket prices and allow season-ticket holders to opt out of the controversial automatic cup scheme" -- whereby costs for home cup games "are automatically debited from supporters’ bank accounts -- should they wish not to attend Europa League ties" (London INDEPENDENT, 12/15).
