Mexico's CONADE Formalizes Agreement With Mexican Olympic Committee

Mexican National Commission for Physical Culture & Sport (CONADE) Dir Alfredo Castillo officially presented an agreement between CONADE and the Mexican Olympic Committee that "establishes the responsibilities of the institutions," according to LA AFICIÓN. Castillo: "To avoid confusion and take advantage of the presence of the Olympic federations, the non-Olympic federations, directors of sports institutes and the people involved, I give a reading so they have an understanding and avoid speculation." Among the agreements "it stands out that CONADE is not obligated to finance the national sports federations," as these federations "should be self-sufficient in human and financial resources." Additionally, the Mexican government will "look to optimize the public resources, but this situation will not allow CONADE to request a change of directors, or involve itself in the internal management of the federations" (LA AFICIÓN, 12/12).
