Media Notes: ATP To Increase Live Production At World Tour Masters 1000 Tourneys

The ATP and ATP Media, the broadcast arm of the ATP World Tour, announced this week that live match production at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments will be significantly increased from '16. More than 100 additional ATP singles matches will be produced, as well as increased coverage of doubles matches. The broadcast enhancements are underpinned by a $300M investment in TV production over the next 10 years, which will see more matches than ever produced from the top two tiers on the ATP World Tour (ATP World Tour). ... Telefónica-owned Movistar Plus has acquired the exclusive rights to air English Premier League football matches in Spain. The three-year deal will start next season. The news comes at a time when Telefónica has "suffered major setbacks in its strategy to capture pay-TV subscribers," having lost most of its football TV rights to Mediapro (ADVANCED TELEVISION, 12/7). ... Lagardère Sports was appointed host broadcaster of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon in a multi-year agreement from '16-18. Lagardère Sports will provide a range of broadcast, media and production services for the event. It will provide all radio frequency transmission facilities required to deliver a live TV signal for the race, all technical management, outside broadcast trucks, motorbikes and helicopters for filming as well as 12 cameras and a full TV crew (Lagardère Sports).
