Inaugural Women's Big Bash League To Kick Off This Weekend

The inaugural eight-team rebel Women's Big Bash League will kick off this weekend in Melbourne and Sydney. The new format, which replaces the previous state-based women's T20 competition, mirrors the eight-team men's Big Bash League with women's teams representing all existing BBL clubs. It will feature 59 matches over 51 days, culminating in the competition final on Jan. 24. Eight matches including the final will be broadcast live and free on Network Ten, beginning with the Brisbane Heat vs. Adelaide Strikers clash at the Gabba on Dec. 19. Broadcaster Andy Maher will host the coverage along with former Australian players Melanie Jones and Lisa Sthalekar (Women's Big Bash League).
