German Club St. Pauli Agrees To Buy Upsolut Merchandising

2nd Bundesliga side St. Pauli "agreed a deal to buy outright" its merchandising partner, Upsolut Merchandising GmbH, according to SOCCEREX. The club, which already held a 10% stake in the company, will pay just under €1.3M ($1.4M) to "acquire the remaining shares from fellow co-owners Lagardère Unlimited and textile firm Miles." The deal, reportedly agreed to after six months of negotiations, will see St. Pauli "pay the full amount" in two installments -- one at the end of this year and another at the end of August. The agreement ensures St. Pauli will own all of its merchandising rights, with Upsolut Merchandising's staff of around 30 full-time employees "set to be brought in-house." Upsolut Merchandising is "understood to generate annual profits of around" €500,000 ($530,000) (SOCCEREX, 11/25).
