Saturday's Real Madrid-Barcelona Match Draws 1.2 Million Pay-TV Viewers In Spain

Real Madrid-Barça games are "synonymous with success for TV broadcasters and Saturday's game was no exception," according to Lorenzo Lara of MARCA. Barcelona's 4-0 win drew an audience of 1.2 million, making Canal+ Liga the most-viewed pay-TV channel on Saturday despite the game being played "at a hardly favorable hour for a broadcast." The market share of 10% was just 4.1 points lower than the most watched program on free-TV at the same time. But this was not the largest pay-TV audience for a Clásico. On March 23, 2014, the match between the rivals had an audience of 1.69 million on Canal+ 1, which translated to a market share of 9.3%. In March, the match at the Camp Nou also attracted 1.69 million viewers, but a market share of only 8.8% (MARCA, 11/24). Int'l network beIN SPORTS' coverage of the match delivered an average of 1,874,582 total viewers across its two networks, reaching 1,106,137 total viewers on beIN SPORTS en Español and 768,445 total viewers on beIN SPORTS. The matchup delivered for beIN SPORTS networks a +26% growth YOY P2+ and a +33% growth in A18-49 total viewership (beIN SPORTS).
