Liga MX side Puebla VP ÁLVARO FLORES CID DE LEÓN was sanctioned by the Mexican Football Federation for "racist comments" directed at his team's Colombian defender EFRAÍN CORTÉS. Flores was fined around $24,000 and suspended for a year for allegedly calling the player a "black shit" during negotiations over the club's "failure to fulfill the player's contract" (DPA, 11/21). ... Former Chilean footballer MARCELO SALAS will reportedly bid to become president of the Chilean FA (ANFP) if "all the current execs leave the organization." Salas said that he feels "proud" that some execs have "thought of him to lead Chilean football." Former ANFP President SERGIO JADUE resigned last week and traveled to the U.S. to cooperate with a "probe into alleged bribery within FIFA" (EFE, 11/22). ... Olympic Diving Bronze Medal winner TOM DALEY chose Manchester's Aquatic Centre "for his first academy outside of London" (ITV, 11/19). ... Former Gold Coast rugby player KEVIN GORDON is "about to embark on an acting career." Having retired from rugby league due to ongoing injuries, the "winger's love for film and television has sparked his next career move" (FOX SPORTS, 11/22).
