Marketplace Roundup: Burts Chips Renews With Premiership Rugby Club Exeter Chiefs

Burts Chips announced its sporting sponsorships for '15. The brand will sponsor Premiership rugby side Exeter Chiefs, Motorbase Performance BTCC Team, League Two club Plymouth Argyle and British Basketball League club Plymouth Raiders. In addition to being the exclusive crisp brand available at Exeter's Sandy Park Stadium, Burts will also sponsor Exeter Chiefs prop Moray Low (EXETER DAILY, 11/17). ... Fairexx Logistics entered the sports sponsorship market by partnering with the Ladies European Tour, which oversees more than 23 golf tournaments spanning 18 countries on four continents. Fairexx will contribute to LET operations through its extensive int'l network and the company will benefit from significant visibility at LET tournaments (LET). ... Drinks firm Tennent's NI was named the Northern Ireland football team's official beer partner. As part of the six-figure investment, Tennent's NI also secured a five-year contract for the supply of draught beers and ciders to the new national football stadium for Northern Ireland at Windsor Park (BELFAST TELEGRAPH, 11/17).

RINNAI TO BACK CLUB WORLD CUP: Tankless water heater manufacturer Rinnai signed on as an official sponsor of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held from Dec. 10-20 in Japan. Rinnai's logo will be showcased on the field's perimeter, where it will be seen by viewers on TV broadcasts in 219 countries across the world. Additionally, the logo will appear on event signage during the games, as well as displayed on the official FIFA website and on printed marketing materials for the event (Rinnai). ... Infront Sports & Media announced that Swiss watch brand Tissot was named the official timekeeper of the Chinese Basketball Association League. The long-term agreement between CBA and Tissot starts now and will go on for the next five years, covering all CBA League games, including the playoffs and annual CBA All-Star Game. Basketball is the most popular televised sport in China, with every CBA League game shown from November to April (Tissot). ... Australian national health brand Blackmores was on Monday named an official partner of the Australian Open. Blackmores global health ambassador 2014 Australian Open champion Li Na will be on hand to support Blackmores’ activities both before and during the tournament. Blackmores will create a 2-story consumer brand activation on Grand Slam Oval to showcase its newly launched Superfoods range (Australian Open). ... Serie A club Hellas Verona partnered with Jetcoin, "a digital loyalty token aimed at sports fans." Hellas Verona becomes the first club in the world "to accept Jetcoins in payment for sponsorship" (SOCCEREX, 11/17). ... Brasileiro side Flamengo announced that credit card provider Visa "is to create series of customised pre-paid cash cards for the club." Visa will offer personalized cards, "emblazoned with a club badge." A small proportion of every purchase "made with the cards will go to Flamengo" (SOCCEREX, 11/17). ... Cable and telecom investor Altice signed up footballer Cristiano Ronaldo "as brand ambassador across all the territories in which it is active." Altice "owns Portuguese service provider Portugal Telecom." Altice "will launch advertising campaigns" in Portugal, France and Israel soon, which will also be adapted for Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the Dominican Republic and the U.S. (DIGITAL TV EUROPE, 11/16). ... Rosemark Golf LLC announced it signed world No. 1 Lydia Ko as an ambassador. Rosemark Golf asked Ko to help design a special-edition Lydia Ko 1.52 Thorn grip graphic which will debut in the near future (Rosemark Golf).
