Former Chelsea Manager BOBBY CAMPBELL "died at the age of 78." Campbell managed the London side from '88-91, "leading them to promotion to the top flight of English football in 1989 and the following year to a fifth-place finish, Chelsea's best performance for 20 years." The Liverpudlian "also managed Fulham and Portsmouth and had coaching spells at Arsenal, Aldershot and QPR, and in Kuwait" (REUTERS, 11/7). ... British track and field athlete JESSICA ENNIS-HILL insists that it is "all systems go for Rio 2016 after taking home the top award at the Sportswomen of the Year ceremony." Ennis-Hill finished ahead of second-placed LIZZIE ARMISTEAD and third-placed LIZZY YARNOLD to "be named sportswoman of the year." England's hockey side was "named team of the year after winning EuroHockey gold back in August." The young sportswoman of the year award went to sprinter DINA ASHER-SMITH "after becoming the first ever British woman to run the 100m in under 11 seconds" (EUROSPORT, 11/7). Ennis-Hill said that she will "wait until after the Rio Olympics to make a decision about her retirement." Ennis-Hill will head to the 2016 Games as favorite to "defend her Olympic Gold Medal after winning a second world title in August" (BBC, 11/7). ... England cricket legend ENID BAKEWELL won the lifetime achievement award at the 2015 Sportswomen of the Year Awards. The 74-year-old former England women's all-rounder became the eleventh recipient of the award, which recognizes a lifetime of sporting success, and is the second women's cricketer, following RACHAEL HEYHOE-FLINT in '09, to be recognized. Previous winners also include MARY PETERS ('01), BILLIE JEAN KING ('07), and Youth Sport Trust Chair SUE CAMPBELL ('12) (England & Wales Cricket Board).


RIBERY SUES CNN
: Bayern Munich winger FRANCK  RIBERY is suing CNN for $1.5M in damages "after the American broadcaster used a picture of the former France international to illustrate a story on cryotherapy." His lawyer, CARLO ALBERTO BUSA, said, "Mr. Franck Ribery ... never gave his authorization and his consent for the use of this picture ... of his image ... to this publication." The picture, which appeared on CNN's Twitter feed, features Ribery in a cryotherapy box with the following headline, "Woman found frozen in cryotherapy chamber, health trend called into question" (London GUARDIAN, 11/6).

NBC Olympics’ Molly Solomon, ESPN’s P.K. Subban, the Masters and more
