British & Irish Lions Announce Canterbury As Official Apparel Partner

The British & Irish Lions announced Canterbury as official apparel partner for the '17 tour of New Zealand. The deal sees Canterbury hold exclusive rights to manufacturing both the match and training kit alongside a new lifestyle range for the Lions. Canterbury's relationship with the British & Irish Lions dates back to the '59 tour of New Zealand. To mark the announcement and celebrate their historic meeting years ago, Canterbury re-issued 1,959 limited edition versions of the British & Lions jersey worn on the tour of '59. Canterbury is the official sportswear supplier for Rugby World Cup 2015 and will be seen on officials and the England, Ireland, Japan and Namibia rugby teams (Canterbury). In London, Alex Lowe wrote the Lions "are also in the market for a new shirt sponsor to replace HSBC," with Standard Life thought to be one of the favorites in a deal set to be worth in the region of £10M ($15M). It "is believed that three-quarters of the Lions’ sponsors have signed up for the 2017 series against the world champions" (LONDON TIMES, 11/5).
