League Notes: Pirelli's Mario Isola Denies Paul Hembery Will Step Down

Pirelli Racing Manager Mario Isola "has rejected speculation he is shaping up to take over as the head of Pirelli's F1 programme." Isola "is generally regarded as second in charge behind Paul Hembery." But there have been suggestions Hembery "could be set for a different role, resulting in the promotion of Isola as Pirelli looks ahead to its next F1 contract beyond 2016." Isola: "The news that appeared yesterday is not real and I don't know who put it out. Paul is and remains the head of motor sport" (GMM, 11/4). ... National Rugby League Head of Football Todd Greenberg "won't rule out" having a run at the vacant CEO post but says he will wait until the role is "formally finalised before deciding on his next move." The Australian Rugby League Commission's search for a replacement for outgoing CEO Dave Smith "will be handled by a recruitment company and the formal details or the role have yet to be put in writing." Until that happens, Greenberg "won't make public his intention to throw his hat in the ring" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 11/5). ... Asserting that cricketing ties can help improve relations, former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar "has urged the governments of India and Pakistan to resume the bilateral series which has been stalled due to political tension." Tendulkar: "These are issues which the two countries' governments need to decide. I think that the relations (between India and Pakistan) need to improve. If the governments feel that this is the ideal way to move forward and the two boards also feel the same, I do not see any reason why we should not play" (IANS, 11/4).
