Charlton Wants To Offer Eva Carneiro A Role After Her Chelsea Legal Dispute Is Resolved

Football League side Charlton London "want to offer Eva Carneiro a role back in football after she resolves her legal dispute with former club Chelsea," according to Simon Johnson of the EVENING STANDARD. The club is looking for Carneiro to "work alongside first team physio Erol Umut and club doctor John Fraser." Carneiro lodged a claim for constructive dismissal against Chelsea last week "following her bust-up with manager José Mourinho at the start of the season." Carneiro has received "a lot of support from within the sport and has been heralded as an inspiration for women hoping to go into the game in some form." Charlton wants to give the 42-year-old the opportunity to continue doing that, although it will have to bide its time "while her case against Chelsea remains unresolved" (EVENING STANDARD, 11/2).

LEGAL ACTION: The LONDON TIMES reported Mourinho is to face an individual legal claim from Carneiro, the former Chelsea team doctor, "in addition to the action she is bringing against the club for constructive dismissal." The claim against Mourinho will be on "the basis that he was instrumental in having Carneiro dropped from first-team duties and effectively demoted." Legal papers are likely to be served on Mourinho this week as part of "separate but connected claims against him and against the club." It means the Portuguese will "have to appear in person at an employment tribunal unless the case is settled out of court beforehand" (LONDON TIMES, 11/2).
