Spanish Basketball League Club Joventut Embargoed By Spain's IRS

Spain's Internal Revenue Service has embargoed Spanish Basketball League (ACB) club Joventut for failure to pay €756,461 ($835,400) that the club owed since it left bankruptcy in '12, according to the EFE. Joventut had reached a "verbal agreement" 18 months ago with the Barcelona Delegation of Spain's IRS. Sources said that after this agreement was referred to another delegation on multiple occasions, an embargo has been executed. Some of the club's sponsors "will have to pay the quantities the club owes." This measure does not affect the businesses that recently signed agreements to sponsor Joventut's youth teams (EFE, 10/27).
