Marketplace Roundup: Haier Announces Strategic Partnership With Chennaiyin FC

Home appliances and consumer electronics brand Haier announced its strategic partnership with the Chennaiyin FC team, "making it the brand’s second year of association with Indian Super League (ISL)." As part of the partnership, the team jersey "features Haier’s logo in front on the right hand side." Haier will also "gain brand exposure around the grounds in form of in-stadium branding, perimeter board branding and all other benefits as an associate sponsor to gain visibility during the tournament" (TELEVISION POST, 10/17). ... Australian Rugby Union side ACT Brumbies announced a renewed multi-year partnership with automotive brand Land Rover. The Brumbies and Land Rover have been partners over the past three years. Under the agreement Land Rover Australia will retain its place as the official automotive partner of the Brumbies and will continue to be featured on the left sleeve of all playing jerseys, as well as receiving a multitude of additional marketing assets across the Brumbies operation (Brumbies). ... Tokyo 2020 announced "the appointment of security companies SECOM and ALSOK" as official partners. The two have been "jointly attributed" to the category "Security Services & Planning," taking the total number of partners to 21, including seven official partners (INSIDE THE GAMES, 10/20). ... Next year the London Marathon will be known as the Virgin Money London Marathon, following the announcement by organizers of a five-year extension signed with current sponsor Virgin Money. The bank first became sponsors of the event in '10, with the aim of helping runners to raise £250M ($386M) over a five-year period. The first three years of the sponsorship has seen £150M ($232M) raised, with last year seeing a new record of £52.8M set (Virgin).
