BT Sport Pleased With Subscriber Increase Ahead Of Jürgen Klopp Debut

Jürgen Klopp "kicks off his Liverpool reign" on Saturday -- and BT Sport is "relishing the chance to beam his debut around the country," according to David Kent of the London DAILY MAIL. The German has been center of attention "since replacing sacked Brendan Rodgers at Anfield." BT Sport is understood "to be pleased with the increase in subscriber sign-ups ahead of the match," although it is uncertain whether it will break its previous audience record of 1.6 million for Liverpool's 3-2 win over Man City in '14. BT Sport, which picked up the match for its regular 12:45pm kick-off match each Saturday, "will have a stellar line-up for the match." Former Liverpool player Steve McManaman, former Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp and Owen Hargreaves, who will offer a German perspective about his time with Bayern Munich, "will join presenter Jake Humphrey pitchside." Michael Owen and Glenn Hoddle "will be alongside Darren Fletcher in the commentary box" (DAILY MAIL, 10/15).

BACK TO WORK? In London, Aaron Flanagan wrote former Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers "could be set to sign a big money deal to join the beIN Sports TV punditry team." Richard Keys, formerly of Sky Sports, "is the chief anchor for beIN's worldwide coverage and took to Twitter to announce that he could be working with Rodgers soon." After his sacking, Rodgers "jetted off to Spain with his partner Charlotte and her daughter, but could be back in work in the very near future." Keys tweeted that Rodgers "will be" joining the beIN Sports team in the near future. It "is, however, unclear whether talks have taken place between Rodgers and the Doha-based TV network" (DAILY MIRROR, 10/15).
