League Notes: BCCI Embarks On 'Program Transformation'

The Board of Control for Cricket in India embarked on "Project Transformation" and engaged Deloitte to undertake the project under which the following objectives are expected to be achieved: strengthen its organization/governance structure, revolutionize its operational practices, formalize the policies and procedures in line with world-class standards, improve the financial controls and processes and identify opportunities for operational effectiveness and efficiency (BCCI). ... The Int'l Cricket Council announced the India cricket team manager "has been fined 40 percent of his match fee for making inappropriate comments about an umpire" during the hosts' ongoing series against South Africa. Vinod Phadke told a website that the team was "unhappy with Vineet Kulkarni," an ICC int'l panel umpire, and that he was "going to complain about the Indian official in his report at the end of the series" (REUTERS, 10/15). ... The Discipline Committee of the French Football League (LFP) decided its punishment for Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille after the incidents from the Sept. 20 match against Olympique Lyonnais. The committee on Thursday decided to impose "two matches closed to the south bend, one match closed to the north bend, one closed match suspended sentence and a €40,000 ($45,500) fine" (L'ÉQUIPE, 10/15).
