Former Chelsea Doctor Eva Carneiro Criticizes FA Investigation

Former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro has "broken her silence to criticize the investigation into allegedly sexist and abusive comments made towards her by José Mourinho," according to Neil Johnston of the LONDON TIMES. The FA cleared the Chelsea manager of making "discriminatory comments during a match in August." The doctor was publicly criticized by Mourinho for "treating Eden Hazard in the final minutes of the match against Swansea" and was "banned from the matches, training sessions and the team hotel." Carneiro, who has left the club, said that "she was not asked to make a statement." Carneiro: "I wonder whether this might be the only formal investigation in this country where the evidence of the individuals involved in the incident was not considered relevant. It is incidents such as these and the lack of support from football authorities that make it so difficult for women in the game." FA board member Heather Rabbatts said that she had "major concerns" about the investigation. The FA said that it had written to Carneiro's lawyers "inviting her to give evidence or make a complaint." It added, "That route remains open" (LONDON TIMES, 10/3).
