R/GA London hired Sid Lee Amsterdam Strategy Dir SIMON WASSEF "as a group strategy director." The appointment is part of R/GA’s new global approach of consolidating three strategic functions -- planning, analytics and business transformation -- to "help clients evolve in the connected age." Wassef "will work on the overarching strategic vision for the agency’s entire Nike portfolio." This includes "the all-digital brand categories in Western Europe, such as Nike Football, women’s, running, sportswear, basketball and men’s athlete training." He "has also been tasked with leading strategy teams" across R/GA’s global network and will report to R/GA London VP & Exec Strategy Di­r of Insights & Planning DREW BURDON (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 9/24). ... Red Bull has appointed ANDREA PESCHKE "as marketing and sales coordinator for its Global Soccer Team." Peschke, who recently worked as the marketing director for 2nd Bundesliga side VfL Bochum, "will start her new position on Oct. 12" (SPONSORs, 9/24). ... The NBA announced that longtime media exec JENNIFER CHUN has joined the league as Senior VP Global Media Distribution. Chun will report to NBA President, Global Media Distribution BILL KOENIG, and will work closely with Senior VP, Global Media Distribution & Business Affairs DAVID DENENBERG. Chun has more than 15 years of experience in the TV and digital media industry. She comes to the NBA directly from Time Warner Cable, where she served as senior VP, content acquisition (NBA). ... Brazilian football coach VANDERLEI LUXEMBURGO will be the new coach of Chinese second-division team Tianjin Songjiang starting in '16. The coach "has reached an agreement with the Asian side and should be officially presented on Thursday." He will only take over from '16 as there are "just four more matches left in the current season." He "will also take his coaching staff with him." His contract "will run for one year with an option to renew for two more seasons if he can promote his side to the top-division" (SAMBA FOOT, 9/24).
