Facility Notes: Tottenham Losing Ground To Chelsea In Bid For Wembley Relocation

Tottenham has "failed" in its high-level bid to involve U.K. Minister of Sport Tracey Crouch in its efforts "to relocate to Wembley Stadium" for the '17-18 EPL season. Both Spurs and Chelsea "are competing to use the national stadium at the same time while building new grounds." Spurs Chair Daniel Levy and Tottenham MP David Lammy "have recently been to see Crouch to insist that there should be a level playing field over Wembley, as taxpayers’ money was involved in building the stadium, now privately owned by the FA." Tottenham fan Crouch "has no intention of intervening in the issue, believing it is a matter for the two clubs and Wembley to sort out" (London DAILY MAIL, 9/15). ... A councilor on Milan’s department of sport "warns Milan and Inter a new stadium 'is an opportunity not to be missed.'" The Rossoneri "had won the right to build a new arena in the Portello area of the city, but appear to have abandoned the plan in favour of staying at San Siro, to the frustration of their co-tenants." Department of Sport member Chiara Bisconti: "If one of them wants to go ahead with another stadium, then the administration is prepared. In my opinion, it’s an opportunity not to be missed" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 9/16). ... Disabled fans of English fifth-tier football club Wrexham AFC will have an improved view when watching their side at the Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium thanks to investment from the EPL-funded Football Stadia Improvement Fund. A grant of £126,754 ($196,000) from the FSIF, which is delivered by the Football Foundation, helped to fund the construction of a dedicated platform, as well as wider improvement works (EPL).
