Marketplace Roundup: Shell, Ferrari Extend Long-Running Partnership For 5 Years

Shell and Ferrari have "extended the oldest partnership in Formula One for a further five years, both sides announced on Sunday." The Anglo-Dutch oil company's relationship with the Italian team "dates back to before the world championship started" in '50, with Shell sponsoring Enzo Ferrari as a driver even in the late '20s. Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene said, "Signing this contract is a further step forward in terms of stability and we are happy to have extended our collaboration with Shell" (REUTERS, 9/6). ... Serie A side Udinese announced a one-year partnership with Web Eyewear. Web, part of the Marcolin Group of fashion labels, will serve as the Udine club's official eyewear partner for the duration of the '15-16 season, offering its products to players and staff of the club in exchange for an "advertising presence at the team's Stadio Friuli home stadium" (SOCCEREX, 9/7). ... National Rugby League club Wests Tigers named Brydens Lawyers its major sponsor for the coming three seasons. The multi-million dollar deal is Wests' largest ever sponsorship agreement and will see Brydens featured on the front and both sleeves of the club's playing jersey (Wests Tigers). ... 2015 Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) Road World Championships organizer Richmond 2015 announced Lexus joined its team of partners of the nine-day cycling event to be held in Richmond, Va. this September. As the official automobile of the event, Lexus will provide nearly 100 vehicles to be used by the race caravan, cycling teams and race officials (Richmond 2015). 

U.K. DEALS: ManU and South Korean footwear brand Sbenu announced an agreement which will see the company become the club's official casual footwear partner in the country. Sbenu will have the exclusive rights to produce and market ManU-branded casual footwear in South Korea (ManU). ... Premiership Rugby announced a new partnership with the Movember Foundation designed to improve the physical and mental health of rugby fans across the U.K. The Movember Foundation becomes an official charity partner of Premiership Rugby. The partnership will include the MOVE like a Pro initiative. Guinness will remain the official beer and responsible drinking partner of Premiership Rugby. The partnership includes pouring rights at each of the 12 clubs and the presentation of the Guinness Premiership Rugby Director of Rugby of the Year award (Premiership Rugby).
