Marketplace Roundup: Wolfsburg Signs Deal With Taiwanese Luggage Company

Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg "has signed a sponsorship deal with Eminent Luggage Corp." The Taiwan-based travel luggage producer "will become a fourth-tier partner of the club during the '15-16 season." The company "will receive ad space in camera view at home games." The deal has a reported "low six-figure value" (SPONSORs, 8/13). ... Bundesliga club Werder Bremen "agreed to a deal with Sparkasse Bremen as the club's new banking partner." The club and the financial institute "have signed a five-year deal until the end of the '19-20 season." Sparkasse Bremen will become a thrid-tier partner of the club and pays an estimated €700,000 ($780,000) annually for the rights (SPONSORs, 8/13). ... Chelsea has signed luxury watch brand Hublot as its official timekeeper for the '15-16 season, its second watch partnership after Rotary in '13-14. Hublot's brand will be visible on LED boards and video screens at Chelsea's home ground at Stamford Bridge, "plus clocks installed in the stadium" (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 8/13). ... Scottish Championship side Livingston "secured a new main sponsorship deal" with Edinburgh-based Krafty Brew. The deal will run until the end of the season, "with a view to an extension" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 8/13). ... Brasileiro side Botafogo "partnered with IO2 Technology for development sponsorship on its digital platforms." The company "combined with the club to launch the Digital Botafogo service, which will have five commercial packages for sponsored content offered across the club’s major social networks." Financial terms of the agreement "were not disclosed" (SOCCEREX, 8/13). ... Second Bundesliga side Karlsruher agreed to a one-year sponsorship deal "with Init and Palleten-Logistics." Both companies join the club "as third-level sponsors, taking the total number of club partners in this category to 12, and they will receive advertising space on LED bands at Karlsruher’s Wildparkstadion home ground." The agreements are each worth €90,000 ($100,000) per year (SOCCEREX, 8/13). ... Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly "has been appointed by Coca-Cola as the company's social ambassador for three years," a deal the beverage maker said will help in promoting the U17 FIFA World Cup 2017. Coca-Cola replaced Sachin Tendulkar with Ganguly "with the aim of attracting attention to football" (INT'L BUSINESS TIMES, 8/13).
