Brentford Postpones League Championship Game To Relay Surface

Brentford has postponed next Tuesday's League Championship clash with Birmingham City "in order to relay the Griffin Park pitch," according to Matt Maltby of the London DAILY MAIL. The decision "was made after the condition of the surface attracted criticism" following Brentford's 2-2 draw against Ipswich on the weekend. The Bees "have now been given permission by the Football League to reschedule the match" to Sept. 29, which gives them until Aug. 29 to relay the pitch. Brentford CEO Mark Devlin: "With the match next Tuesday now postponed, we will not have a match at Griffin Park until we play Reading on Saturday 29 August. This will give us a clear window to relay the pitch." He added, "All tickets issued for the match next Tuesday will be valid on 29 September and our Ticket Office staff will be able to refund anyone now unable to make the rearranged date" (DAILY MAIL, 8/12).
