Samsung Signs Rugby Trio For Multi-Platform World Cup Campaign

Samsung "signed up a trio of England Rugby stars ahead of the World Cup, and is planning to launch its first ever brand-led rugby campaign," according to Shona Ghosh of MARKETING MAGAZINE. The firm "is the England Rugby team’s official consumer electronics and smartphone partner," and provides home tech to the Rugby Football Union. Samsung signed up George Ford, Joe Launchbury and Jonathan Joseph "as brand ambassadors." The three "will feature in what Samsung is describing as its first multi-platform, brand-led rugby campaign, called the Samsung School of Rugby." As yet, Samsung "released little detail on what the School of Rugby entails, or how it will be using its three new ambassadors." The intention is to raise awareness of Samsung’s "commitment" to boosting the fan experience through tech. The company "is also offering all RFU clubs a discount on new digital display screens for their club houses" (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 8/11).
