Olympic Notes: Australian Olympic Committee Rebrands Logo For Rio 2016

The Australian Olympic Committee unveiled a new, modernized brand to give more access to Australian athletes at the Rio Games. The new brand reflects Australia’s Olympic heritage but is designed to resonate with the current and future generation. Australian athletes have worn the crest and rings since 1908. The colors of the wattle are dominant and the new design salutes native Australian animals and the star represents the states and territories of Australia (B&T). ... The development arm of the Int'l Paralympic Committee, the Agitos Foundation, announced that 31 para-sport development projects will receive €650,000 ($710,000) through the '15 edition of its Grant Support Programme. The projects, which are predicted to impact thousands of people from all four corners of the globe, come from 17 national paralympic committees, three regional organizations, 10 int'l federations and one int'l organization of sports for the disabled (IPC).
