British Athletes To Receive $38-A-Month In Vouchers From Aldi Ahead Of Rio 2016

Team Great Britian athletes will have £25 ($38)-a-month to spend in-store at Aldi "ahead of the Olympics next year as the supermarket looks to encourage healthy eating," according to Matt Morlidge of the London DAILY MAIL. The German-owned company "is the squad's official supermarket" and is pledging £180,000 ($279,000) to the cause as British athletes start their journey to Rio. Aldi started its £10M ($15.5M) sponsorship deal in March and is also helping Team GB get ready for the Games with programs "aimed at getting youngsters into Olympic sports." It "has signed up top athletes including boxer Nicola Adams and taekwondo athlete Jade Jones, as well as modern pentathlete Samantha Murray, diver Jack Laugher, gymnast Dan Purvis and former BMX world champion cyclist Liam Phillips" (DAILY MAIL, 8/6).
