La Liga agreed to "major" TV deals in Asia, according to SOCCEREX.
BeIN Media Group "secured the broadcast rights to the league in 18 markets across south-east Asia for the next three years" and will now pitch coverage to networks throughout the region.
BeIN Sports "currently distributes the international rights to Ligue 1."
Meanwhile across the continent in south Asia, La Liga "signed a three-year deal" with Multi Screen Media, which takes the rights from Star India. MSM's Sony Kix channel "will carry games live in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives" (SOCCEREX, 8/4). The ECONOMIC TIMES' Ravi Teja Sharma wrote Sports broadcaster SONY KIX has acquired the exclusive telecast rights to LaLiga.The deal "comes on the
heels of the channel acquiring broadcast rights" for the FA Cup and the
Serie A. Sony Six and Sony Kix Business Head Prasana Krishnan said, "We are
extremely thrilled to be associated with this pre-eminent league and
this move opens up a bold new chapter in our operations as we go on to
spearhead the football-led genre in our industry" (ECONOMIC TIMES, 8/3).
DIGICEL DEAL: The JAMAICA GLEANER wrote Digicel SportsMax "announced a new multi-year broadcast rights deal that will deliver live and exclusively" the entire La Liga season on Digicel SportsMax and Digicel SportsMax2 to more than 25 Caribbean territories for three seasons through '20. Digicel SportsMax "will broadcast the 380 Liga BBVA matches," starting with the '15-16 season, which kicks off on Aug. 22. Matchdays "are primarily Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays." The rights "were obtained through La Liga media agents Mediapro" (JAMAICA GLEANER, 8/3).
