League Notes: NRL Funds Kyle Turner's Meeting With Concussion Specialist

The National Rugby League "flew Kyle Turner to Melbourne in June to meet the same concussion specialist who recommend Liam Fulton end his rugby league career." Fulton "was forced into premature retirement last year because of repeated head knocks." Turner's short career "has already been plagued by head and neck injuries." He "suffered his latest concussion in his comeback game for the Rabbitohs against Penrith on Sunday afternoon" and he too met with Melbourne-based professor Paul McCrory to discuss his concussions (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 8/3). ... American cyclist Tom Danielson "has tested positive for synthetic testosterone -- but denies doping." The 37-year-old Cannondale-Garmin rider "has been suspended by his team pending the result of his B sample results." He said in a series of tweets, "I have not taken this or any other banned substance." Danielson tweeted about his positive test before it was confirmed by the authorities, saying, "I would never ever take anything like this, especially after everything I have gone through the last years. This makes absolutely no sense" (BBC, 8/3).
