Brisbane Roar's Rent Stoush With Queensland Rugby Union May Cost Club New Buyer

Football Federation Australia is closely monitoring "embattled" A-League side Brisbane Roar amid suggestions that "the club could lose a potential buyer following court action from the Queensland Rugby Union to retrieve money for unpaid rent," according to Ray Gatt of THE AUSTRALIAN. The A-League club "was left reeling late on Friday after the QRU took legal action, leaving the Roar until August 19 to pay a 12-month outstanding debt for use of training facilities at Ballymore." Brisbane Roar Chair Chris Fong believes that "it could seriously affect ongoing negotiations for the sale of the club." In a letter circulated to Roar members Monday, Fong "hit out" at the QRU, expressing "disappointment that another Queensland sporting entity would embark on such a direction when our club has been honest and transparent." FFA "remains confident the sale process will go ahead" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 7/28).
