German public broadcaster ARD recorded 1.12 million viewers for its broadcast of the Tour de France on Saturday, according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The number translated into a market share of 10.5%. Sunday's 15th stage drew a 9.8% share as 1.39 million viewers tuned in. In the target demographic 14-49, the Tour obtained a 4.4% share. Pan-European sports channel Eurosport obtained a 1.9% in the target demo for its broadcast of the Tour on Sunday. On Saturday, Eurosport attracted a total of 490,000 viewers and had a market share of 4.8%, including 3.6% in the target demo.
INT'L FRIENDLIES: German sports channel Sport1 drew 700,000 viewers for its broadcast of the int'l friendly between Bayern Munich and Valencia on Saturday. The game, which started at 1:33pm, had a 7.4% share along with 6.8% in the target demo. On Sunday, Sport1 showed the friendly between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Standard Liège. The game was watched by 240,000 viewers and obtained a 2.6% share in the target demo. The friendly between Arminia Bielefeld and Hamburg SV, which started at 3:30pm, attracted 590,000 viewers and had a 6.2% share in the target demo (DWDL, 7/20).
