Figures published by Sporting Intelligence show that for the "first time in history," Premier League clubs will earn more than £200M ($311M) in just one season from shirt sponsorship, according to Hamish Mackay of the London DAILY MIRROR. Reigning champion Chelsea will pocket £40M ($62.3M) in '15-16 after negotiating a deal with Yokohama, taking the total amount earned by the 20 teams to £218.65M ($340.4M). ManU's deal with Chevrolet will earn it a "staggering" £47M ($73M), meaning the club accounts for 21.5% of the whole league's earnings. Arsenal (£30M) ($46.7M), Liverpool (£25M) ($38.9M) and Man City (£20M) ($31.1M) complete the top five while Tottenham (£16M) ($25M) is the only other team to earn more than £10M ($15.6M). Crystal Palace and Bournemouth will receive the smallest amounts. Both clubs are sponsored by Mansion and will earn £750,000 ($1.17M). The coming season's shirt deals will represent a 14% rise on '14-15 (£191.35M). Unsurprisingly, more of the sponsors (five) are based in the U.K. than "any other nation while gambling is the industry that features most frequently on the shirts" (DAILY MIRROR, 7/20).
